Curtis separates himself from other speakers by incorporating a pre meeting or teleconference to discuss client objectives of each event, in order to develop a custom presentation for each client. This pre meeting/teleconference is included in the rate and allows the client to incorporate internal messaging into Curtis’ already impactful presentation. These custom add ins may include corporate values/messaging, safety slogans, safety initiatives/goals and organizational terminology. Curtis can also speak to the companies high risk tasks/high frequency incidents, in order to personalize the message even further, resonating with the intended audience. Curtis believes that before we can change or develop safety culture, first we must understand and influence change in human behaviours toward safety. This presentation offers the tools to make these changes in behaviour as well as highlights the importance of Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment/Management and the joint accountability approach to safety management. Above all, through sharing his own experience, Curtis emphasizes we must remain accountable to ourselves and peer workers.

Motivational Presentations

Curtis leads his audience through the early years of his life, through to his teenage years, where the young teen from small town Saskatchewan had his life heading exactly where he had always dreamed it would take him, with an opportunity to play Jr Hockey. Instead on his third day of a new job at the age of just 17, Curtis found himself in a battle of life or death as over 40,000 volts of electricity surged through the young teens body. Creating an emotional connection, he takes his audience through a very personal journey from the early days in hospital where doctors gave him “no hope” for survival, to a 7 month initial recovery in Saskatchewan, followed by a 6 year complete recovery of hospital trips to Chicago and Toronto. Curtis brings this tragic story full circle, closing his presentation with an extremely positive and awe inspiring message about how he was able to cope with his new life and how he never experienced any anger, depression or felt sorry for himself along his new life journey.
